Fredric Lee Harris

Fredric was born July 25, 1928 in Vienna, LA. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Ruston High School in 1946.

Fredric’s military career began in 1950 in the United States Army and ended with his honorable discharge at the end of his term of service in 1952. After completing his basic military training and advanced infantry training, he was assigned to the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division as an infantryman.

In 1951-1952, while Fredric was assigned to the 22nd Infantry Regiment he was stationed in Germany as part of the post-World War II occupation forces. The primary role of the 22nd Infantry Regiment was to support the occupation and stabilization efforts in Germany. This included maintaining security, overseeing the rebuilding process, and ensuring compliance with Allied directives. The 22nd Infantry Regiment’s deployment to Germany during this period was a significant part of the U.S. Army’s efforts to stabilize and secure post-war Europe.

His military decorations included the Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation.

After leaving the military Fredric worked for the Ruston Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Ruston, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. He spent his spare time gardening and fishing and helping his three sons with their 4-H projects raising steers, lambs, poultry, and pigs.

Sadly, Fredric passed away on February 18, 1993, in West Monroe, LA. He is buried in the Pecan Grove Cemetery in Hilly, LA.
